Ruled Knowing and the Problem of Evil: Is Free Will Theism Necessary for Defense?

Abstract

This essay argues that the problem of evil is better answered from a Reformed perspective. The Reformed tradition offers a richer answer to the problem than does the free will defense since it is both more consistent and more orthodox. Therefore, it is contended that the epistemological vision and theological confession of the Reformers provides the substantive foundation needed to defend Christianity against the problem of evil without the use of libertarian free will.
