The Yes to all God’s promises: Jesus, Israel and the Promises of God in Paul's letters
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article explores the question of how Paul encourages his readers to understand the implications of the coming of Jesus for the inheritance and fulfilment of the promises of God. The majority of the article consists of a survey of the relevant sections of the four letters in which Paul makes use of the language of 'promise' and '˜promises', asking in each case what Paul wants his readers to understand about the relationship between Jesus, Israel and the promises of God given in the Old Testament, and the effect that Paul intends this understanding to have in the lives of his readers. The conclusion draws out the implications for a theology of Christian Witness to Israel in our own day.
