Abstract

This article examines the doctrines which Jean Calvin and Francis Turretin use to expound Jesus' dereliction by the Father on the cross. It establishes Calvin's focus on the interaction between Jesus' humanity and divinity, and Turretin comparative emphasis on the Father's action in the dereliction. Some conclusions about their commonalities and the theological direction needed to appropriate the best of both views.
