Abstract

From Baur to Hengel, Tübingen has exercised a dominant influence in
scholarly discussion of the Stephen-episode. Writing in 1845, Ferdinand

particular by arguing that except the apostles obscures the fact that the persecution in question was not aimed at the Hebrews within the Jerusalem church, but only at the Hellenists. Obviously, the thoughtful reader of Acts will want to know what makes this obvious!
