Abstract

We can take encouragement from Matthew Henry’s life and ministry. He lived through a very difficult and confused period of English church history, but outward circumstances did not change the direction of his ministry. Having set himself towards gospel ministry, he never deviated from that aim, but worked incessantly to fulfil his calling. He leaves a legacy of devotion to his master that was displayed in every sphere of his life - as a son, a husband, a father, a pastor/preacher, and a writer.
