Abstract

The present paper examines the discussion between Luther and Karlstadt on the syntax of verba testamenti with a particular reference to Luther's epistle to Karlstadt. The analysis uncovers the hermeneutical and grammatical concepts by which their argumentation concerning the interpretation of the Lord's Supper was conditioned.
